I'm sure this happens to others, maybe even you, one way or another...
Ava was in her audio lab one week. Everything seemed to be working great, until she couldn't hear anything. She checked into all possible solutions, which yielded no results. After 10 minutes of trying to figure out why she couldn't hear, and a text conversation later, she realized just how easy you can miss those simple solutions. Turns out, the volume on the keyboard she was using was all the way down!
Isn't it funny how this happens in almost every area of life, you miss the easy fix to the problem!

Awkward Encounter with 'The Law'
Everyone knows that campus security at pretty much every school is kind of a joke. Well, this story does not help that stereotype any...
Henrietta was in her classroom waiting for class to begin. She noticed that there was a campus rent-a-cop standing outside the room, clearly looking for someone. As each classmate entered the room the same question was asked "who is she looking for?" No one had any clue. Finally, when the teacher entered the room, the security officer asked the teacher to speak with her in the hall. When the teacher left the room, the rent-a-cop pulled out a picture of a student and asked if she knew this particular student. The teacher replied that she did indeed know the student and went to the room and found Henrietta. When Henrietta went into the hallway, the rent-a-cop told her that she needed to move her car. Henrietta asked "why," to which the rent-a-cop said "it needs to be moved out of the way for snow removal."
The rent-a-cop did not have Henrietta's name. But she did have a printed 8x11, black and white 4-year old photo and a copy of her schedule. This 'man-hunt' was created instead of placing a 2 minute phone call to tell a student that her car needed to be moved. Great use of resources, campus security!

Running With Awkward
Has anything major happened in public that embarrassed you? I'm sure there has been.
Bertha was at the gym working out. She was running on the treadmill and her goal was 3 miles. On the third mile, as she was reaching the finish line with perspiration running down her face, her heart beating hummingbird fast, breath ragged, she felt something running down her leg. She looked down, not sure what to expect. All of a sudden, a dryer sheet fell out of her shorts.

Life is a (Awkward) Highway
The first thing that I would like to share with the world of cyberspace is something that I witnessed on the way back to school after spring break. It just so happened that the ride back took place on St. Patrick's Day and the toll booth operator made a comment that my friend and I just didn't really know how to respond to. She handed him the money and he was taking a long time to give back the change. As he was counting the change he said "Are you guys going out partying tonight?" Friend, "Um...we're not partying." Operator, "I see you have your green shirt on and your red hair on, you look like you are ready to go out!" To which we just said goodbye and drove away.
Awkward Introductions
Hello, my name is Aimee and I am socially awkward.
This blog will follow the unfortunate and all too common awkward encounters that I experience during the day. I will also be using other awkward encounters that I see and hear all around me, so watch out because you might be the in the next installment of Socially Awkward 101!
