A Few Awkward Compliments 2....

A couple daily odd compliments that I though were pretty funny!!

If anyone ever tells you to change, just be like, "I don't think so." And then stop whatever you are doing and strut away. Because you don't need to change, and that would be a cool way to show it.

You're adorable when you do something embarrassing. It's like, "Aww, did somebody screw up?" Whereas, for me, it's like, "Wow. I didn't even know that was possible." So touche to you, my friend.

You're like a hug that lasts longer than it should, but it doesn't enter that awkward stage, where you're like, "Okay, that's enough now." It's more like, "I did not expect this much love."

Awkwardly Normal??

Here is a link to a site that a classmate shared with me that I thought was great! It is titled Is It Normal? Check it out!!

Awkward Fall...

My friend told this story that I thought that I would share with you!

The topic of conversation was her families hip replacements, so she shared the story of how she caused her grandmothers hip to be replaced. When she was about 7, she was biking with her grandmother at Acadia National Park. As they were riding along the path, she cut in front of  her grandmother causing her to fall. Because of this fall, she had to have her hip replaced.

When my roommate asked her if her grandmother laughs about it now, her reply was "my grandmother is no longer with us, but my family still laughs about it!"

What a story to tell! :)

A Few Awkward Compliments...

Some of my favorite daily odd compliments as of today!

You're the kind of friend that I can pass a dance move to, because I know you'll keep it going, and that's important.

If your face was on a shirt, I would buy that shirt, wear it around town, and tell people, "This is the face of a winner." And everyone would be like, "Oh man, I wish I had that shirt."

Sometimes a thought pops in my head, and I'm like, "Well, this shouldn't be said out loud." But then I say it anyway, because I'm an idiot, and you just give me a look like, "I'm going to pretend that didn't happen." And I appreciate that.

I think it's safe to assume that you're the funniest person I know. And that's not because I don't know a lot of people. Because I totally do.

I am so glad you get my sense of humor. Because I think I'm funny, but you make it official.

Library of Awkward

So this is what happened to me last week.

I was in the library visiting my roommate who was camped out there studying in one of the booths at the back of the library. This kid had left his stuff on a table behind us and came back to work on homework. He said "psst...you watch your friend study." His English is not the best, since he is a foreign exchange student from Vietnam. My roommate and I both chuckled, he then proceeded to continue a conversation with us asking for our names. Coincidentally, all of our names begin with an A, so he gave us the nickname Triple A. Kinda awkward, right? Well just wait...it gets better.

So I get up to leave to go to class and he stops me and shows me his YouTube channel. It is full of weird videos that he has made. He learned that I am a NESComer and said he wants help with his videos. I told him that I am not a video student and he told me that that didn't matter. He gave me his number and would not let me leave until I texted him because he knew that I wouldn't have if I just left, and he would have been right. He has a way of pressuring you into doing things. (He is the same guy that pressured my other roommate into saying yes to go to coffee with him.) So I texted him, which turned out to be a big mistake.

He sent me a text later that day asking if I was done with class and coming back to the library to hang out and chit-chat (his words). I told him no and that I was busy. He called me a couple nights later. Boy was I surprised. I could hardly understand him, so I was asking him to repeat himself pretty much the entire time. During this phone call he asked if I was at home or on campus. I lied and told him that I went home home for the weekend. He proceeded to ask when I would be back. I told him late Sunday night, hoping that he would leave me alone. The next sentence out of his mouth was "when you come back you can take a nap and then meet me to watch the meteor shower." I then told him that I was too busy and put an end to that little brain fart of his.

He then sent me a text a few days later asking if I wanted to hang out. I then replied that I would appreciate it if he would stop contacting me because my boyfriend is uncomfortable with it. Totally just wanting him to leave me alone. His reply was a simple okay.

I definitely learned my lesson from this awkward encounter!!

Say....Awkward?!

Family pictures are more often than not extremely mortifying. Usually the photos stay in the confines of your parents home. For some of these unfortunate souls, they were sent out into cyber space....

Awkward Tunes

Coffee shops. They are great aren't they?! A place where you can go, drink your favorite hot beverage, and work or people watch.

When going to an establishment such as Starbucks, you tend to bring a computer with the intent of listening to some tunes and working on homework or whatever hobbies you enjoy. Headphones are an important thing to bring to listen to your music. Sometimes, I know its rare, but just sometimes the members of the human race make silly little mistakes. One embarrassing mishap that could ensue from the story that I set up would be one that happened, and has probably happened more than anyone realizes.

A friend of mine had an experience at a Starbucks that would be considered embarrassing by most of the population. She brought her laptop to do some work while enjoying the environment that is created at this caffeine syndicate, then proceeded to plug her headphones into her computer to listen to said tunes. As she was listening she noticed that it sounded loud and other customers around her were turning their heads in her direction. Just as quickly as it would have taken the Flash to run the distance between New England and California and back, she realized that she had plugged her headphones into the wrong jack and everyone around her was listening along with her. She plugged her headphones into the correct jack tout de suite and went on with her work, slightly embarrassed.

Awkward 500

Eating. This is a natural occurrence that we participate in from birth until death, it is what keeps us alive. As children, we tend to eat pretty much anything that we could get our little grubby hands on, no matter what it tastes like. Kind of a Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans situation. A good chunk of the population can say that they have eaten anything from dirt to quarters.

Humans are not the only creature living on the Earth that eats anything it can get its hands on. Puppies in particular have this annoying habit. Usually they grow out of it right? Right. But, as they get older they kind of start to pick up those annoying peculiar habits again. Just like Sundance, a golden retriever who ate something worth more than a quarter....

Awkward Silence

I'm sure this happens to others, maybe even you, one way or another...

Ava was in her audio lab one week. Everything seemed to be working great, until she couldn't hear anything. She checked into all possible solutions, which yielded no results. After 10 minutes of trying to figure out why she couldn't hear, and a text conversation later, she realized just how easy you can miss those simple solutions. Turns out, the volume on the keyboard she was using was all the way down!

Isn't it funny how this happens in almost every area of life, you miss the easy fix to the problem!

Awkward Encounter with 'The Law'

Everyone knows that campus security at pretty much every school is kind of a joke. Well, this story does not help that stereotype any...

Henrietta was in her classroom waiting for class to begin. She noticed that there was a campus rent-a-cop standing outside the room, clearly looking for someone. As each classmate entered the room the same question was asked "who is she looking for?" No one had any clue. Finally, when the teacher entered the room, the security officer asked the teacher to speak with her in the hall. When the teacher left the room, the rent-a-cop pulled out a picture of a student and asked if she knew this particular student. The teacher replied that she did indeed know the student and went to the room and found Henrietta. When Henrietta went into the hallway, the rent-a-cop told her that she needed to move her car. Henrietta asked "why," to which the rent-a-cop said "it needs to be moved out of the way for snow removal."

The rent-a-cop did not have Henrietta's name. But she did have a printed 8x11, black and white 4-year old photo and a copy of her schedule. This 'man-hunt' was created instead of placing a 2 minute phone call to tell a student that her car needed to be moved. Great use of resources, campus security!

Running With Awkward

Has anything major happened in public that embarrassed you? I'm sure there has been.

Bertha was at the gym working out. She was running on the treadmill and her goal was 3 miles. On the third mile, as she was reaching the finish line with perspiration running down her face, her heart beating hummingbird fast, breath ragged, she felt something running down her leg. She looked down, not sure what to expect. All of a sudden, a dryer sheet fell out of her shorts.

Life is a (Awkward) Highway

The first thing that I would like to share with the world of cyberspace is something that I witnessed on the way back to school after spring break. It just so happened that the ride back took place on St. Patrick's Day and the toll booth operator made a comment that my friend and I just didn't really know how to respond to. She handed him the money and he was taking a long time to give back the change. As he was counting the change he said "Are you guys going out partying tonight?" Friend, "Um...we're not partying." Operator, "I see you have your green shirt on and your red hair on, you look like you are ready to go out!" To which we just said goodbye and drove away.
